High School Challenges

More than 100 high school students compete in our annual High School Challenges event that is in held in conjunction with our Craft Championships event in Des Moines. Students compete in teams of 3-5 in carpentry, 2 in electrical, and individually in welding.

Winners receive recognition at the event, in their local media and are awarded prizes.

Career Day

In conjunction with our Craft Championships Competition, ABC of Iowa also hosts a career fair with ABC of Iowa member firms. Participants host hundreds of students at their interactive booths – exposing them to hands-on experience and simulation.

This is a chance for high school students from across the state to meet with real-world employers to discuss their futures. Additionally, the Career Day showcases ABC of Iowa’s Career Exploration Trailer.
